Just been approved for a Credit Card!!! (Beyond believe)!

I've applied again for a Capital One Credit card 6 months ago and they turned me down. I applied again and this time they have approved me!

My financial circumstances haven't change, and my credit hasn't what you would call perfect! I have a landline in my name which I've always paid for by cash until last month which I changed to Direct Debit, I pay my Sky bill by Direct Debit, and 4 months ago I've got a Contact phone on Orange 4 months ago, but I pay this by Debit Card each month.

I have also switched banks from the Halifax to Natwest in the past few weeks, so I'm wondering what could have changed their mind in giving me credit or are they really that desperate for customers?

They just put their charges up. :)

Ah! Never mind eh! I wont believe I've been approved until I get the card though the door and it's been activated!

I've come to the conclusion that it's a total mystery who these companies will approve for credit cards and who and why they decline.

Some years ago, two of my kids applied for GE Capital cards (don't know if that's the same as Capital One) after being pressured in a shop to apply for them, even though they didn't want them! Both applications were then turned down! I investigated as I was concerned there might be something untoward in our credit files. Got files from two credit reference agencies. Nothing! Perfect credit history for everyone in the family/house. At the time both kids in full time employment and living with me and each had one credit card, from their respective banks. Went to CAB. They were puzzled. Could see no reason at all why they'd be rejected.

The only conclusion was that whatever GE Capital's reason for rejection was (they wouldn't tell us), it wasn't due to credit history or current financial circumstances.

So what else would a card company decline you for?
