When I first posted here about Ford's announcement of mass redundancies a couple of weeks ago, the usual suspects here asked "What's the problem ?". Well, now they see it !

Well, obviously the management decided those 1700 jobs weren't needed. If it cuts their costs and makes them more competitive as a result, good for them. The unemployed chaps should get an education and compete.
Protectionist unions make this country uncompetitive; the sooner we realise that and stand up to them, the more we have to gain from it as a whole. A man should only be paid his worth, and not some inflated salary based on his coworkers performance as a collective.

Does that mean we can reduce politicians salaries to about £5k per 5 year term then?

I'd like to see you go down to the Land Rover plant and say that to the workforce in person, you bastard.

No doubt they will take it personally. Most people such as yourself would fail to see it as a call for them to improve. I say sack anyone who doesn't earn their wages.
How can our factories & service industry compete when its workers have a minimum wage, benefits and almost guaranteed employment by their unions - all of which costs money - while other countries just sack workers as they see fit and pay them as little as possible?
You being BNP, if you're so *cough* patriotic, you shouldn't support protectionist policies which simply make Britain uncompetitive on the global arena and harm our economy in the long run. Goes to show how short sighted uneducated chattel can be :-)

Everyone should be paid their worth and employed as necessary. That includes factory workers right up to fat cats and politicians.
If someone can do the same job at a lower price, the more expensive one either lowers his salary or gets replaced.
The law should never stipulate someone should earn £X or the minimum wage is £Y. These are all anti-competitive and will harm our economy in the long run. It keeps stupid, useless people employed.
For example, take a look at London Underground tube drivers and their ridiculous salary packages. In a pro-competition environment, we can stand up to the unions, thus automating and removing such parasites from the system.

Go back to your jobseekers queue Chris. You're already 1700 places behind.
With your education level and towering intellect, you might just get a job as a garbage collector...oh wait, sorry: "Environmental maintenance manager"...;-)
Then you can leave us all in peace and even get a salary for yourself. Amazing concept, isn't it...working for money? No more dole for you :-)

Employment in dangerous environments, like mining, fire fighters and underground tube drivers etc always get a higher scale of pay.

Precisely why the system should be automated. Either install a computer in the trains, or network them to a central hub. Automated trains would allow scheduling of the network to be optimised.
Furthermore, I do not have any statistics for this but I'm pretty sure the rate of job related accidents for Tube drivers is minimal.

Its not accidents. I think they inhale toxic gases in the tunnels.

2) If it is true, this is yet another reason to automate the system and save the commuter from paying for pointless jobs.

If its true, which I doubt, its a reason for commuters not to use the Tube!

'A N O'Nymous' obviously doesn't realise that no amount of education will protect you from redundancy.
Also - even if you do learn new skills, you'll always be starting a new job on the bottom rung, and therefore very susceptible to being laid-off again.

You seem to regard people as mere commodities, rather than sentient beings with feelings & families & mortgages. Soulless drones like you are precisely what caused unions to be set up in the first place!
