Powergen: price rises: read your meter today

Too bad you're not on the PG Online tariff which doesn't increase until 6th September.

Wouldn't know as I provide sufficient online readings and/or reject wrongside estimates. Yet to have a problem getting a revised bill.

It is indeed good practice to take readings on the dates of tariff changes. Although I have a generally positive view of Powergen, I have to say that I have received some daft estimates (for gas, but not for electricity).

The stated increases are 9.7% for electricity and 18.4% for gas. The gas tariffs are said to be uniform, regardless of region. But electricity tariffs vary by region, and the stated 9.7% increase is a national average. In my own case the electricity tariffs are up by 19.96% (primary units) and 10.02% (secondary units), which means that the weighted increase will be well in excess of the average national increase.

Its worth mentioning that in thier statement they implied that they have schemes to help "vulnerable" groups so they may offer rebates (like british gas do) to older people and those on certain benefits. Worth asking them if anyone is with powergen.
