Weird Methods

Hi. I booked flights for my family a couple of weeks ago with Travelocity. These are long haul flights so the whole cost was about 1406. I have received a seats-confirmation email from them and the flight tickets arrived in the post. However, they have only taken 520 from my credit card so far.

The only explaination I can think of is they are wating for favourable exchange rates before taking payments from my card.

Anyone know better?

Very unlikely, if they were that good they wouldnt need to be selling you plane tickets they would be doing a George Soros and not bothering to run a travel website.

Much more likely a glitch in their systems, a mistake, or you dont have an up to date view of transactions on your card and the rest of the charge is there.

Is 520 the price of one of the tickets maybe? Did you buy 2 adult and 2 child? And the adult are 520 each? And the child tickets are about 40% of an adult ticket? That would come to about 1400. In which case they charged you for just one adult ticket? And the rest are on other transaction which either is there but you cant see, got refused (but they still sent you the tickets), or dropped through a hole in their backend systems.

Of course, I could be way off but thats my guess.

I know someone who booked flights and hotel rooms with a company and they were only charged part of the fee. When they arrived at the hotel they found they had not been booked. It only took a few hours long distance to sort out but they had to pay the hotel a lot more.

It was down to incompetence.

They're still trying to get the extra money back from last year.

I'd check with the airline that you are booked on the flights - flight tickets or no flight tickets.

Just email Travelocity to confirm that they have reserved what you have paid for to ensure you have a smooth holiday.

that wont help him when he gets to the airport and there is no reservation. Its always best in circumstamces like these to contact the end of the chain, ie the airline, or the hotel.

Anyway OP, what happened?

Sorry Gents.

I rang QATAR in Manchester and they verified that there are 3 reservations for flights, blah blah And as of yesterday, still no move from travelocity to debit my card for the

880+ outstanding.
