2016 QH&B fails to install

This is the second day I have been trying to install Q2016 H&B and each try seems to abort sooner with a failure. Had Q2015 on my W7 machine and I ha d removed it prior to install of Q2016. The first time I tried it, seems t o have installed ok with the exception of the Q ID part, tried to initiate a new ID but Q denied each try with "OOPS" something has gone wrong..try ag ain later. Finally used my old Intuit ID and it seemed to take it.

The version was listed as R2 25.1.210 and after I did an update, the notice was there for updating to R6. Initiated the upgrade to R6, which failed w ith error code 12. Answers on the internet seemed to think this was caused by my anti-virus which is MSE. Disabled MSE tried again, still error 12. So downloaded the QWpatch.exe and ran it, runs close to the end then fails with error 12 again.

After completely un installing Q2016H&B and trying another install, will no t get even 1/4 the way thru then failure.

Suggestions appreciated.

Make sure your Win7 machine has all the current Windows updates. Run the Quicken cleanup tool. Reinstall Quicken but make sure you are offline (net disconnected), followed by the latest Quicken Mondo patch.

After uninstall and Qclean up seemed to install ok. Then applied Mondo patch and I am now @ R6. Minor problem, when requesting an update, Q wants my Intuit ID, hitting the return seems to satisfy it. Tx for the help

Sorry - that's not how Usenet works. Once you post something, it exists forever. There's no way for anyone to edit/remove any part of a post.

replying to Meebers, Lulu Hernandez wrote: Don't feel bad, I have the same problem with Q 2016 Premier. Updates won't install in any manner shape or form. Q support told me that this is a problem with my laptop. So I contacted the manufacturer who did a through investigation and found no problem with the hardware or OS or drivers. So Quicken support were lying about me being the only person installing the patches.

I just took 'Q H&B '16 & had install issues, too, along with something inte resting (at least I consider it interesting).

I did the "expected" approach (simply install '16 w/o explicit uninstall of '13). Before doing that, however, I did the precautionary step of backing up my '13 file & then validating it prior to upgrade.

Q'13 Validation told me I had the dreaded "...damaged data block" error in my log file, for which there is no known remedy. You're supposed to restor e from an earlier backup & play again. My problem is that upon resurrectin g every backup I could find & Validating each of those, I got the same damn Validation error in the log.

So, damn the torpedoes, ramming speed ahead, I just launched Q'16 install.

The install went OK & it converted my file, but I got the "...connection er ror, try again later" error when it prompted me to activate '16 (didn't Int uit learn anything with the TurboTax activation debacle back in the 90's ?! !!)

I did QCleanUI, followed by reinstall, followed by yet another error "we do n't think Q installed correctly..." to which I clicked the "OK, you didn't install correctly" button & then things went to hell.

I followed online instructions to flag my install file compatibility to Win XP, XP3 & was instantly told that my system didn't meet minimum specs. I finally examined all OS selections in the compatibility drop-down & picked Win 7.

After that, it installed.

Then, here's the interesting part... after '16 install & conversion, a subs equent Validation on the new file yielded NO damaged data block errors in t he QDF.

Not a smooth install. Don't know if there's been a mass exodus of Q knowle dge since they put it up for sale, but if my experience is common, their in stall build process needs some help.

So, now I'm capturing some notes in case it helps anyone else.
