Hi

I've just taken over the accounts for a company. I was told their previous bookkeeper used Peachtree Accounting 2006.

I have the backup file for year ending 2005 (i.e. company.ptb file).

It will not restore on my copy of PT Accounting 2006. (SR4 Build 13 0 04

105) I get a message to the effect that it may have been created on a more enhanced version of PT and is therefore not backwards compatible.

Is there any way to tell which version created the file??

Is there any conversion utility that would make the file usable on the version I have??

Any help would be much appreciated..Thanks

Paul

Are you sure they used PT accounting and not PT Complete Accounting?

Open up the ptb file with winzip. Look for a file called "version.txt". My PT COMPLETE 2005 file says 15.02.

I don't believe there is a conversion tool to allow you to go from Accounting to Complete Accounting. You will either need to get PT Accounting software or start a new company file in PT Complete.

Thanks for the prompt reply, Laura

I suspect that it was Complete Accounting 2006 as i've got 16.02 as version #

My Accounting gives a version # 16.01

Thanks for the info Laura

Managed to get the whole thing working by changing the version.txt file from

16.02 to 16.01 and re-inserting it!!!

Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.

Paul
