New PC - reinstalling Peachtree 8.0

Sep 02, 2005 2 Replies

I am helping a friend setup a PC to replace his old one. We successfully re-installed Peachtree 8.0 on the new box. Before we get rid of the old machine I want to be sure we have everything we need for Peachtree (he knows very little about PT and his admin asst who ran the software just left).

He has two companies defined. I found folders that match both companies in the C:\PEACHW directory. I moved those to the new machine in a directory called C:\PEACHW\DATA which is where I told Peachtree to store the data files. he was able to view/access the companies on the new machine.

Is that all I need to do?

Thanks

No you also need to get the custom forms (checks, sales invoices etc.) which are stored in the same directory as the one with the company folders (C:\PEACHW\DATA in your case) in files that have names ending in .frm (file extension). Also there are files starting with the word tax that contain the tax tables from the old installation which should be copied if Peachtree is used for payroll.

Custom forms are any thing that appears in a report section under a folder. Custom reports which appear above the stock ones with a red symbol next to them are stored in report.dat in the company's data folder.
