clothing store set up

What is the best practice to set up my clothing store merchandise's styles. I am planing to use the Matrix, and I only need the followings, department, categories, size, color and style number. I was able to figure out the first four but styles I don't know what to use. I need to be able to search (F2) POS, the style number and see the availability of certain sizes/colors/qty on hand on the spot. For Instance, Levis Jeans, It belongs to Men Department, Buttoms Category, and around 10 styles that we keep getting new arrivals every other week. Where do I enter the styles and how to search for them. My other question is how to close my daily batch ? after I have been playing with my database, how can I delete all my departments listing and categories, Items and sizes and so on, so I can start fresh. I still need my company names and receitpts policies settings. Thanks for any hints. Oh Another questions, I have created a new employee that has the option that can't close the POS, But I did not know how to close the window at all since there is no option to enter an admin (ID/Password) so I can close the POS Window. I had to ctrl+alt+delete

Hi Alexander...

Use the New Item Wizard in manager to create your matrix items, as it will create both the matrix item (the "parent" item) and the matrix components (all the SKUs that share the same style number but have different color/size combinations)

The F2 lookup in POS will take you to your item listing where you can sort by Item Lookup Code, type the style number in the find field and you will immediately go to your matrix item. If in manager, go to database - items and same thing, sort by ILC and type in your style number in the top find window

From POS, use the F5 open close to run a z report - this will close your batch.

If you are planning on starting from scratch later on, there's no real reason to delete your depts, categories, items, etc. Use your current database to do all your settings. As long as you don't enter any actual transactions there will be no data that would affect any financials. Is there a specific reason why you would want to reenter all your data?

In POS use the F9 Secure option to log in as an administrator / owner and override your employee login; you can also use the CTRL F6 screen to add the "minimize" and "close" buttons to the top right of the window if needed...

Hope this helps....

So the parent Item is my Style numbers that share the style name but varies in the color/size. As far as deleting, the only reason is that because I had added so much garbage and fake numbers and names that are connected to real department and categories that will be used down the road.
