Connnecting to server error

You are trying to connect to SQL Server 2005. You need to install the Backward compatibility pack on the system that is giving you this error.

Do a google Search for "Feature Pack for SQL Server". You should get to a page on Microsoft.com that has a whole bunch of SQL Related downloads. You should get the following 3 and install them in this order: MSXML (I think it is version 6, there's only one on the page though) SQL Native Client Backward Compatibility Components

After installing these, you should be able to connect.
