Coupons in RMS

Is RMS equipped to handle coupons, and to provide usage statistics?

We are planning our retail store grand opening, and want to send out a mass mailing. In the mailing will be a discount coupon which we create ourselves (don't know if it will be a percentage discount on the entire order, or a flat XX-dollars off). The customer will need to provide their name, address, etc, to redeem the coupon. We will use the redemption results to start up our ongoing marketing.

In addition, the shopping plaza we will be located in has special promotions. The consumer will receive a coupon which can be used in any store in the area. We don't have the same level of control over these coupons. We won't necessarily capture the same level of customer information, but the the shopping plaza management will need to know the redemption rate.

However, I haven't seen anyplace in RMS Store Ops to setup coupons, and I don't see it listed in the RMS help file.

In past discussions, I have heard people recommend RetailRealm's and ADI's Customer Loyalty modules. However, these are more for frequent shoppers, and don't really seem to be geared to the mass-producted pre-printed coupon which we hope will get them in the door in the first place.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction, either within the RMS documentation and administration/manager programs, or toward a reputable, well-integrated, and well-supported third party application?

It doesn't do coupons as such. But as suggested by others you can set up and item or 2 and call them coupons and make them a negative value. Reporting to a department coupon. You ca further break down by using categories and call them mall coupon mailer coupon etc.

RMS is not good with manufacturer coupons, but should be great for the discount coupons you mentioned. The feature you want to look up is Reason Codes... Also check the last post regarding creating macros to apply a discount - this will allow you to preset the discount level and apply a specific reason code to it. Discount Reason Codes are available in the Detailed Sales Report (hidden by default).
