Macros don't work

I press Macros, then I select Alt-F1 and record the macro:

1) Press Shift-F3 2) Type in 7.6 3) Hit Enter I then hit Ctrl-F3 and the macro says it has been successfully recorded.

However pressing Alt-F1 just makes the mouse cursor jump. It doesn't carry out the Macro.

The macro recording did stop. I pressed Ctrl-F3, and the recording started up again. However when I replayed the macro, the following happened:

1) It opened up the discount window (As pressing Shift-F3) should 2) The value for the discount was not 7.6, rather it was >'% which I assume is Ctrl-F3 3) the Enter key step was not done. This is I assume because >'% is an invalid value for a discount.

try recording the macro with only keystrokes.

not using a mouse.

Thanks. That worked! The help file doesn't give me much information. On a side note, the macro works in 3 of our registers, but on the fourth, nothing happens, none of the steps of the macro even pops up. Is this an update problem?

Watch the macro icon carefully - macro recording pauses automatically when you open certain screens. IIRC you need to hit Ctrl-F3 again before entering the value.

Use Shift+F3 to unpause the macro, not Ctrl+F3

  1. (macro recording) Press Shift F3 to bring up the discount window.
  2. Press Shift F3 again to un-pause the macro recording engine.
  3. Press ALT D to discount from retail price.
  4. Press ALT T and use the numerical keys to enter the discount percent, then press Enter.
*Note - you should use the row of numbers across the top of your keyboard. Using the numeric keypad on the right side of your keyboard can sometimes cause the macro to record improperly (I know..it's wierd)
  1. Press CTRL F3 to finish recording the macro.
  2. Walk to the fridge to get a beer and reward yourself for a job well done...:)
