Card swipe

I am using cheery keyboard with built-in mag swipe. I have noticed that all my transaction that I swipe is going as hand-keyed transaction according to the visa/master card so they are charging me EXTRA MONEY. We never hand-key any credit card and always swipe. I don't understand where the problem is. I have check the reader in notepad it reads the card. I called my processor they say it is comming as handkeyd. They told me buy seprate mag reader. Please HELP Thanks

I have a Cherry Keyboard as well (G81-8000) and it has worked fine in RMS. My issue now is that I have switched Merchant's to Abanco and they have an RMS Plug-in. The problem is that I can not swipe a card at all. I hear the beep from the Mag Reader saying it read the card, but it is not populating the fields. I can not even swipe it into Notepad. The problem only occurs when I open RMS POS. When I reboot the computer and open Notepad, I can swipe, but then again it disappears when I open POS.

I tried using designer and disable Track 1 an enter the Header and Terminator for Track 2 but then Debit Cards would not process as the bank said that Track 2 was not coming thru.

in SO Manager, Database\Registers\Register List, open the properties for the register, go to the MSR tab. Nothing should be set up here. If something IS set up here, RMS is trying to use the the keyboard an OPOS device. If you can normally scan directly into Notepad, you don't need to use OPOS, but you absolutely DO Need to get the tracks configured correctly. I don't know anything about Abanco's add-in - it may expect an OPOS device, in which case forget what I said before, but you would be setting up the device in the add-in, not in RMS. You are going to need to get support on this from your reseller or Abanco for their plug in - I have no idea if they expect the same track format that RMS normally uses. Juzar, First you need to make sure you have programmed the Keyboard correctly. I have these instructions written out, so you don't have to use Cherry's software. Cherry is a superior product to an independent mag stripe. Getting a new mag stripe wouldn't solve the problem. See directions below.

You didn't say what software you are using to process credit cards. Which one is it? If it is PC Charge, do this: Go to the EDC tab in the Administrator. Select credit card processing software. Under Options (for that software), select Include raw track data in request. The raw data is what tells the bank that you have swiped the card.

Cherry Keyboard programming instructions for use with the Quick Sell 2000, Store Operations programs and PC Charge or IC Verify.

Note: Use only the ENTER key on the number pad when pressing enter. Type all letters in lower case.

1. Open MS DOS prompt or Command Prompt (WIN XP - accessories).
2. Enter programming mode by pressing the Ctrl, Alt, and Shift keys on the left and right sides of the computer.
3. The keyboard should beep.
4. Press the V key then the 5 key and then the % key (shift and 5 keys).
5. Hit the ENTER key on the number pad (on the right). You will now see a message.
6. Press the V key then the 6 key and then the ; (semi colon).
7. Hit the ENTER key on the number pad (on the right). You will now see a message
8. Press the W key then the 5 key and then the ? (shift and question mark keys).
9. Hit the ENTER key on the number pad (on the right). You will now see a message
10. Press the W key then the 6 key and then the ? (shift and question mark keys).
11. Hit the ENTER key on the number pad (on the right). You will now see a message
12. Hit the space bar once. You will see a message.

To test the programming, go to the Quick Sell tender screen for credit cards and swipe the card. The card number should show up on the first line and the expiration date (month/year) should show up on the second line.
