Crediting accounts from an external system

We are using RMS 2.0 and need a way to import transactions from an external source such as an Excel spreadsheet or foreign DBMS. It's not clear where to import data in the UI (from Excel or otherwise) or what tables to update if we want to do a "push" (from another DBMS).

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks, Seth Stone

Retail Realm's Import Utility is highly recommended for this. It has years of knowledge of the RMS database schema coded into it and will take care of putting your imported data into the right place(s).

There are tons of tools that you can use to import the data on your own, but they will all expect you know where the data needs to go. MS has never been very forthcoming with a data dictionary for RMS.

MS has a tool called QSImport that will also import certain data. That tool is available by requesting it from tech support, but it is unsupported. I tried it once and found it was easier to just import manually, but that's just me. The Retail Realm tool has more functionality - in particular the ability to import transactions from an existing system.
