DISCOUNTING by %, not price in RMS ?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to discount by percentages?

RMS only allows you to enter the actual $ value for a discount and not a percentage like 5% or 10%. I don't know why it works like that but it is inconvenient. Am I missing something or is it true that this simple options is just not available?

Thanks for your help/clarification, Zorian

Zorian,

Shift-F3 handles discounts.

Good luck, Matt

Matt, thanks for your reply.

However, I was wondering about something slightly different. The discount function does not allow me to do discounts by percentage - only by actual dollar value. My question is, how do I discount by % and not $ value?

Zorian,

What kind of situation are you referring to?

Thanks, Matt

The situation we face is when we promise a 5% discount and we cannot quickly enter a 5% disocunt in the POS because it only permits us to discount by dollar figures and not by percentages. So I was wondering if there is anyway to discount by percentages just by typing "5%" and having the system automatically make the proper discount calculation.

Is there anyway to do that?

RMS does discounts by percentage. The Shift-F3 (Discount) function gives you a choice on the left of how you want to apply the discounts, and a choice on the right of what discount method to use. The RMS documentation can explain it in detail.

New West Technologies have an add on that can help in situations whereby you require a discount by percent of a certian group or category by percent. It isnt a button but it is quite good for liquor and so on....
