We recently upgraded from RMS 1.3 to RMS 2.0. My understanding is that we no longer needed the Dongle. In fact, I actually mailed the Dongle back to Microsoft in a pre-paid envelope. It's been about 6 weeks and now we just recently got a pop-up message stating that licensing would end on 9/1/07. We've seen this message before when our dongle came loose from the back of the CPU. We tightened it up and that fixed the issue. Now, I'm a little bit worried, though, since we no longer have the dongle. I was supposed to send it back, right? We don't need it on 2.0. Correct? Somebody reassure me please. :)

My understanding is that you do not need the dongle, but you can no longer have 3 registers on 5 computers. In other words, the license is now only on that one particular machine.
This is why we have not yet upgraded. I only need three POS stations, but 6 computers share the dongles. No can do with 2.x.

You can have POS installed and functional on only 3 machines, but you can have and use Manager on the others.
