Frusstrated/HQ/SO

Hello and Happy Holidays to all,

I have HQ and sevral SO servers at various locations. I am very NEW to RMS. And try to understand the concept of HQ.

In my mind if I add something to HQ it will send it out to all the SO if ZI desire to do so.

1-Is it POSSIBLE to set up a user in HQ and have it sent out to all the SO servers. That way if I have a user that go to multiple locations I can input once and not at each SO level?

2-My biggest headache seems we are adding invetory of 10 items I want to be able from my remote stores that just have SO server to see if I have an ITEM in stock at one of my other stores.

3-Lots and LOts of negative items in 80,000 item database. And I know for sure the items are here. What is the proper procedure with in RMS to change the items to the correct count.

It seems that the Physical inventory was done wrong (Proces and procedurers) for a very long time. We are using netbooks with scanners attached to them. I was able to fix several issues thanks to this site. BUT I am stuck with other problems. Is there a clear and definitive way of doing Physical Inventory with SEVERAL people usinf several netbooks AT THE SAME TIME. Works well with one person sucks with multiple.

THanks to all and happy holidays.

Not everything that happens in HQ gets synchronized to the stores. Some things happen automatically with the 401 updates like store address details etc. Some things like item price and costs have specific worksheets meant to propagate those changes to the stores. See HQ Manager help section Worksheets menu for descriptions and how to use them.

Some things like store cashiers and sales reps synchronize changes made at the stores back to their tables in HQ, but have no way to initiate the change in HQ that apply to the stores. There are some third party applications that can manage that for you, or you can use the worksheet 51 to schedule the changes to the stores with scripts like this:

insert into SalesRep (Number, Name) Values(1234,'LastName/FirstName')

Jamer, Yes HQ is a very complex animal, and I would strongly suggest you work with a partner like ourslves or any of the other wonderful partners that monitor this forum. Minimuly for us to help you learn the ins and outs.

Matt is certainly correct that certain things do not work as you would think, like sync'ing of cashiers. But these things can be accomplished though customizations, which depending on the number of store, and users moving between locations, may pay for themselves before long.

Physical inventory can be a complicated idea for a single store, let alone an entire chain. If nothing else, I would reccomend you review this with a partner, as it can be long, involved process the first few times you do it until you get a hang of what needs to be done at the store, and how to push that up to HQ and reconcile it.

The RMS system, though it has it faults, is a good, solid system, but can have a learning curve, especially at the HQ level. I hope you don't get too frustrated, before you are able to see the benifits.

I agree with Ryan. You should work with a partner like them. If you contract them to work with you they can also provide you the RR Store and HQ Utility for FREE that will help yo to automate a lot of the isues you are facing like when changing or creating an item to have worksheet automatically created, controllng cashier from HQ and also creating security for stores from HQ and much much more....
