HQ - can it support 2 db's??

Currently we have an RMS implementation, which consists of an HQ and seven remote stores connected to it. I would like to know if it is possible to connect another database to RMS HQ. By this, I do not mean another remote store, but a new database for a store that has nothing to do with the other seven. I need another database because the new stores? data is not to be ?seen? by the other remote stores? users. To connect RMS HQ to this new database we can use different login credentials. Obviously all rms software used is same version, 2.0.

Thanks, Nick

Couple of issues...

1) I believe that you would be violating the license agreement by operating 2 distinct organizations on the same HQ License.

2) Why bother with HQ for a single store? If you are later going to have multiple stores in the different line of business, it may make sense.

3) You need a separate instance of HQ Server for the second DB, not just HQ Manager. MS does not recommend multiple instances of HQ Server on the same server, even though it IS possible to set it up that way; so, this implies extra hardware.

So, what you are asking is technically feasible, but violates the license.

Maybe there are other solutions that would meet your needs. If nothing else, buying a second HQ license would resolve that part of it. Maybe if you add some explaination on why you are considering this someone will have some alternative ideas...

In Store Ops Manager, go to wizards - run task 210 make items inactive - select items to update using one of the options (ie, items in this department, in this category, from this supplier, etc) - -- if you make an item inactive by mistake, run task 200 make items active, to make it "active" again....
