gift certificates and store credit

How do we issue a store credit when a customer redeems a gift certificate for a purchase but only uses a partial amount of the gift certificate value.

If you are using Vouchers to issue your Gift Certificates, you can just hand the certificate back to them. Vouchers don't have to be redeemed all at once, they can hold a balance until they are fully redeemed. This may not be the best or even a good solution for you - just one of many possibilities...

Thanks Glenn. Our problem is that is recording it as cash return and not credit. The client just prints up GCs and hands them to the customer with the amount purchased on it. When the customer only redeems part of the voucher amount we need the receipt to show it as a store credit and not cash back.
