It depends on what you need to set-up differently for the franchise stores v/s your own stores. Are the cost for item in stores different ? Do you want to seperate accounting at HQ and for Franchises ?

It is possible to configure stores differently in HQ.

Thanks Mihir, Cost for items are different for franchise and for our stores We need different accounting (and control) at HQ... one for all our stores and one for each franchise I understand that the bottom line here is that we TRANSFER items among our stores and our HQ, but we SELL items to the franchise

Hello Paco,

You must exclude the franchise store from HQ. It has to be done this way because of the accounting requirements and item costs. If the franchise store joins HQ it will be using HQ costs and it's sales transactions will become a part of the HQ accounting records. The franchise store needs to treat HQ like a regular supplier who they receive purchase orders from, and HQ must treat the franchise store as a customer who they sell items to. If the franchise stores needs to automatically check inventory at the corporate stores, you will need a different way of doing it.

On another note, are you the end-user or are you going to be selling and implementing this solution to someone else? If you're an end-user, you should be asking your reseller for advice; if they can't answer your questions, find a better reseller. And if you are a reseller, why aren't you posting on the reseller newgroup? You should already knows these things anyways; they are the basics of HQ

Paco,

We need to know more about your business requirements. How does the franchise stores work and what the HQ needs are. You may just use one HQ database or another option will be to have 2 seperate HQ databases.

Do call me if you want to discuss further.
