Installing 1.3 Issues

Okay, I took the leap and installed version 1.3 Origianlly 1.2 was installed onto my C drive, not program files...was told I would have less issues if done this way. So I uninstall 1.2 and install 1.3 and I find that everything is working, except I have a folder in rms called Store Operations which has ONLY my templates etc...everything else is in the RMS folder directly off of the C drive. I check the paths in admin, and everything is pointing to Store Operations, so I change this in the back office to read C:\ as I have 2 registers feeding off of the back office. When I do this though, nothing get's updated except the back office. Registers 1 & 2 I go into admin, and they too are pointing to C:\ Store Operations...so I change them to read R:\ which is the Network connection...so some connections read R:\ (then the file connection) and others read \\Admin\ (then the file connetins) Not sure which is correct, and or what kind of issues to expect. What have I done?

Vince,

You messed up big time. ;-) In the future, do one machine at a time, see it everything works, then move on to another machine.

** Your re-install should not affect anything you had set up from a pathing situation. **

You should install the program on the C: drive and in the Program Files folder on each computer in the store. If not, then you will have to remember it each time you update!!

On all Register machines, in SO Administrator | File | Configuration | Paths tab | Everything should point to the server machine's drive, except for Receipt Templates and Add-ins. Leave them at the C: \Program Files\Microsoft Retail...\Store Operations\Receipt Templates and C: \Program Files\Microsoft Retail...\Store Operations\Add-ins

It sounds like your brother has mapped your server's drive to R:, so change all of the other paths to R:\Store Operations\... _OR_ \\Admin\... will work too.

On the Templates tab, change all of them to the R:\Store Operations\... _OR_ \\Admin\ ...folders too.

On the registers, you should copy any customized receipts in to the Receipt Templates folder and point the program to them on the local register machine's C: drive.

On all other machines, the program should be set to look at the server's drive for any Crystal Report, Active Reports, POs, Statements, etc. That way you only have to store them in one place.

Jeff, I am thinking about Uninstalling 1.3 and starting over. I think I messed up all of the file connections. Jeff, is there an e-mail that I can get a hold of you direct? If you don't mind of course that is.
