Inter-Store Transfers don't update

Is this normal?

Store A generates an inter-store transfer in. Store A processes WS401 Store B processes WS401 Store B gets an auto-generated inter-store transfer out from HQ. Store A edits the transfer order, either adding or removing a line item Store A processes WS401 Store B processes WS401 Store B transfer order DOES NOT UPDATE!

This is bad Bad BAD.

I ask again, is this normal?

If the answer is yes, I think I'll post again as a Suggestion to MS.

So help me out with this...

I have four stores. Transfer truck generally runs once a week.

Customer at Store B places an order for an item not currently in stock at Store B but available at Store A. Store B transfer coordinator places an Inter-Store Transfer In Order to allocate inventory at Store A. Store A issues the new Transfer Out order but does not Commit. This commits the inventory so that sales staff at Store A do not sell inventory for customer at Store B. The next day, the customer calls to change their order. They prefer the black widget instead of the white widget they already ordered. Store B transfer coordinator modifies existing transfer order to reflect changes in customer order. Store A never gets the updated transfer order. Wrong widget gets transferred. Customer gets angry. Cancels order. Tells everyone they know how incompetent we are.

This is a big issue for me because we have LOTS of suppliers for whom all deliveries are received by the same store every time. Most of the back stock for Supplier X will be at Store A. For Supplier Y the warehouse may be Store C.

Granted, not every customer changes their mind--but it does happen with frightening regularity.

More likely is the transfer coordinator enter Qty 1 when they need Qty 4 and doesn't realize it until after the order is placed.

My big problem - and this happens A LOT is when Store A has one widget available, Store B requests it by transfer order (on paper - not in the system) and then a sales rep at Store A sells the item before it can be made unavailable by committing it to a transfer order. If the process began with the transfer request from within the system--and if an inter-store transfer order *automatically* committed the inventory of the transferring store to said order--then my problems would be diminished.

No matter the reason, the lack of such functionality is disheartening.

"Jeff @ Check Po> Tom,

Yes, it's normal. That would be a good suggestion - I'd vote for it:)

Store A would have to contact Store B and alert them to the change. The Transfer can be edited at both stores and the proper inventory will transfer, but I believe that HQ will still show the originally requested items/quantities.
