Line Display Issues

We recently purchased a PartnerTech CD7220 pole display for one of our customers for use with Microsoft RMS. Using the provided configuration utility along with the OPOS drivers supplied with the RMS software, we got the pole display to work but there are some minor problems. First, the first line message overwrites the second line message when the system is idle, both of which are defined in RMS. For instance, if the first line was set to "Welcome to our store!" and the second line was set to display the date, the pole display would show "Welcome to our store!" on both lines.

Secondly, the end characters on the first line are overwritten by the second line when items with quantities greater than one are rung up. For instance, if an item ABCDEFG was rung up at 9.95 and the quantity was changed to 2, instead of ABCDEFG on line 1, it appears as ABCDE2@.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It has been my experience that it is better to use the manufacturer's OPOS drivers rather than the generic drivers RMS provides simply for the reason you describe. It will work, but not exactly the way it's supposed to. Here's the web address to download their OPOS driver.
