MS POS Login & PW no longer work

All of a sudden user login & pw do not work (only one login & pw were setup) and we cannot access program (either Manager or POS). Only thing that changed since the last time POS was opened on Sunday was a WIndows Update & perhaps a Java update. Also Sunday at closing, we tried to change back up to an alternative server directory and the system would not allow the change. Other then those few things, nothing else was done to settings/software.

Any help would be appreciated.

Keith,

If you are using numbers, try the ones on the top of the keyboard instead of on the right or check to make sure that the Unlock is turned on.

MS POS is actually a different program from RMS and uses different login information...

I think I'm confused now...

I have a box called Microsoft Retail Management System Store Operation - and one of the programs is Store Ops POS...is this different to the MS POS you are talking about?

How many different MS systems of this type are there?

ozzie,

There are 2 and its confusing, of course, MS does it all of the time.

First there was QuickSell 2000, then I'll skip some of the _real_ ugly stuff.

Next came , Microsoft Retail Management System: Store Operations and Microsoft Retail Management Headquarters. A mouthful so usually its just, RMS SO or RMS HQ.

Store Operations is comprised of 3 programs, Store Operations Administrator, Store Operations Manager and Store Operations POS

Headquarters is comprised of 4 programs, Headquarters Administrator, Headquarters Manager, Headquarters Server and Headquarters Client.

Now QuickSell 2000 is dead, replaced by Microsoft Point of Sale, aka, MS POS.

MS POS is comprised of 2 programs, Microsoft Point of Sale Manager and Microsoft Point of Sale POS

If history repeats itself, MS POS is the forerunner of the next version of RMS Store Operations

Keith,

Oops, wrong link, I hate when that happens! Problem is you can't get the other link unless you are a reseller. You will need to contact either your reseller or ask MS for the Password Reset Tool. It part of a MS POS support package. MS is at (888)477-7877 or (888)400-4266.. You may qualify for a free Business-down issue, check out this link;

If your reseller doesn't know about it, give him this link;
