New to RMS, moving systems onto a domain

I am moving 3 POS systems onto a domain for a client. The computers are currently on a workgroup.

I don't know anything about what type of database RMS uses (is it access, SQL, something else?), what profile settings are required, etc...

Can I simply use the windows XP settings transfer wizard to transfer the user's current workgroup profile onto a new profile that I setup once joined to the domain?

Also, I want to move the database itself onto the new file server. Where in RMS do you set the path for the database? Is it just a file or set of files I can move to a share on the fileserver?

Any words of wisdom are greatly appreciated!!

Can I get the manual somewhere online? I am coming into this situation as a network consultant and have not been involved in the initial configuration. I have not been able to find an install guide, user guide, etc... online...

I haven't come across it online.

Installing is pretty straight forward, follow the bouncing ball type stuff. When it installs, it will check whether msde is installed and it will install it if it isn't there. When it does, it will ask what password you want for the SA account - write this down somewhere safe, as it will be needed later, and it will cause your client all kinds of problems if they lose it.

Then once it is all installed, grab the back up of the database, and go to Store Operations Administrator -> Database -> Create. Follow the prompts and point it to the backup.

Then go to the File menu and -> Configuration. This is where you set the database location etc. You will need to point this at the computer you just installed the database on. You will then need to run the Administrator program on each computer and point them all to that computer.

Should be fairly straight forward, but just make sure you do your backup and database creation after they have finished sales for the day, or if that can't wait, do it in a slow time, but make sure they aren't using the system and have all the pos terminals down. I'd estimate that for 3 terminals it should only take around 30 minutes at the most, but allow a bit longer if you haven't done it before.

Consult5,

There isn't really a manual anymore. Print out Help, which is really almost what the manual was/is. You will have 2 help files, one for Admin (25 pages) that talks about install and setup and the Manager/POS (240 pages) that discusses the running of the program.
