I have a Parent/Child question.
I would like to order a carton of cigs (Parent) when packs (child) are at 3.
I tried the following parameters: Carton Parent Restock Level = 1 Carton Parent Reorder Point = 0 Child Restock Level = 10 Child Reorder Point = 3
With inventory of parent at 1, as soon as the child inventory hits 0 a parent is broken down into 10 children and a PO for a parent is generated. I would end up with 20 packs on hand (10 child and 1 carton on order) when I only want 3 packs prior to placing the order.
I also tried the following parameters: Carton Parent Restock Level = 0 Carton Parent Reorder Point = -1 Child Restock Level = 10 Child Reorder Point = 3
No PO is generated when child inventory hits 3. However a PO is generated when the child inventory goes to zero and then I sell one addition pack (which I don?t have because my inventory is zero).
Any suggestions how I might achieve my objective? Or is this not possible in RMS?
