POS 2009 Performance Issues

Feb 08, 2010 2 Replies

We have a system with 55,000 items in the database. We are seeing issues with performance with anything that pulls up the item list (ie. Item file definition, Item receipt, item search, etc). We also run into reports that will not run, it just returns a message that there are too many items for the report and you need to filter the list to a smaller selection.

Is anyone else seeing performance issue with the system? We are in the process of building the databse of our other store with about 300,000 items. Tests show the performace will be unacceptable. Hopefully there is something we are missing!

Thanks

I do not know what the problem may be but with a store that big I would be looking into a different software.

I agree with Sacha, you might be better served with RMS rather than POS2009. Not because of your performance issues, but because of everything RMS can do that POS2009 can't. If you have reviewed both programs and determine that POS2009 does fit your needs, your issues probably have more to do with hardware and memory rather than the software itself. SQL should have no problem handling the amount of records you are talking about(it is a drop in the bucket actually). So I would look at the hardware and the amount of RAM(2gigs minimum, 4gigs better) you have POS2009 installed on. If you still have issues you may want to contact a VAR to get their help and input. Sometimes it is better to bite the bullet and hire someone to do the job in a day or so and forget about all the hassles of trying to figure it out yourself.
