Post Codes in Customer Feilds

Hi,

Can anybody explain how the post codes work in the customer feilds? I can see when i put in a code, it is sometimes able to tell me the city, or fill in part of the details, but sometimes it does not? Does it guess the post code based on what info it already has? Would there be a way of obtaining all post codes for my local area and importing them so when we ask a customer for their post code we just need to get the house number?

Yes, that feature works based on existing data in the Customer Table. If you wanted to import all local zip codes, you would have to create a Customer that uses each of them - not very clean...

You might want to take a look at New West Tech's People POP program - it poulates customers based on their phone number - not sure if it would work outside the US.

I have just investigated this and found a product which can be integrated with RMS on

basically as soon as you pop the cursor into an address feild anywhere within RMS this software pops up and asks for a number and a post code, it then fills in the rest of the customer informatuion, including phone number if it is held on its database!

I think this is a must have!
