Printing Customer Name on Credit Card Receipts

Mar 24, 2006 3 Replies

This is another suggestion to MS to add into RMS the following feature: Pull the customer name from a credit card that is swiped and print it on the receipt.

If the "dumb" terminals most processing companies rent out can do this, certainly a sophisticated program like RMS should be able to do this as well. I'm no programming genius but I'd imagine that since RMS is already filtering out the account number and exp date from the rest of the data on a cc mag stripe that pulling the name would only add a few lines of code.

In a similar post someone mentioned that there was an add-in available. Does anyone know of one?

Thanks

Al,

The newest version of the Digital Signature Capture utility from New West provides this. Your reseller should have pricing information.

I'm pretty sure you can add Customer.Name in the receipt template to do what you want. Just put this where you want the name to appear:

Customer.Name

Evan,

DSC looks like a great add-on; however, I am not looking for signature capture (yet). All I need is the name off the card.

Will DSC work without the capture hardware?

Thanks for the info!
