Reports after the new year begins

This is the end of my first 10 months using RMS and I am wondering how I will run sales and other reports that I have been used to using with the 'year-to-date' history. What happens after 1/1? How can I get total sales since the beginning of the item in inventory?

I really don't want to run this year AND last year separately. I see a custom format that brings up date parameters that might bethe answer. Does this custom format create a fixed-date report that can be accessed? How does that work?

Thanks

Instead of using only the predefined dates, use the custom date option. Set the start and end date of your chosing.

Yes, I mentioned that in the second paragraph of my question.... but, will the custom report feature save the date parameters as a specifically named custom report that stops at the current date? It seems like the only way this feature works is that you have to put in a custom start date each time you want to run the report.

Thant's certainly workable, but it would be easier if it were set up as as the same start date but always end at the current date (not one that has to be set each time).

Is there a way to do that?

Yes, you would always have to enter your start date and end date. Most reports you generate will have an end date of 'today', so with any reports that I run from inception to date, I always just use a way back dated date of

1/1/00 to make it fast and easy to key. Our system went up in 03 so this makes it easy.

I am sure there is a way to have the back date constantly set, but that would mean your standard report would become a custom report, and then you would just end up junking up your custom reports section with duplicate reports essentially.

I am not sure of the exact changes that need to be made to your reports off the top of my head, but I can look into it later and see what I get.

Thanks for that. I figured that was the case, but always look for the simplest solution if it's there.

Have a great holiday!

Just Memorize the report. It will save your filter settings as well as any changes you have made to sorting, grouping and layout. You would then access your memorized report by selecting it from Reports/Memorized and you would just need to change the end date each time you run...
