Restoring Database on POS 2

Mar 26, 2008 3 Replies

I have a POS 2 system I just setup and I have a backup from 1.x. I can do a "Restore" in POS 2 of the old database and it converts it, but how do I tell POS to use the new database?

The connection screen only has the option for server and computer name, but there is no option to change the actual database.

How do you do a restore if it gacks? I havent been able to find a clear set of instructions on doing this.

Thanks,

Hi Mike,

When you restore a database, you will be asked whether you want to use the new database after the restoreation is completed.

You can also change database at the Logon form. Click the "Change Connection ..." button of the Logon form, a form will be displayed that allows you to change the database.

Mike,

When you click the OK button of the connection screen, a Select Database form should be displayed and you should be able to select database.

Kev> Hi Mike,

Yeah, I figured it out. I didnt realize that all you needed to do is give it the server\instance name and it gave you a list of available databases. All the documentation I read said you had to enter it, not select it from the dialog box that pops up.

Thanks,
