RMS in Restaurant

Dear All,

Is there any add-on for Restaurant.

There does not appear to be an add-on for restuarants. We use RMS in a retail wine shop that is a wine bar a few nights a week. We control inventory using RMS, but getting a restaurant-type tip check was a problem. We've solved it by using a stand-alone credit card terminal for credit card sales.

See post above: "Restaurant-type tip check????"

Hope it helps.

In my experience RMS would not be a good fit in a true restaurant environment as the hospitality business is pretty different animal than retail. You could use it if the establishment just sold cash-and carry type items (maybe a cafeteria). The reason fr this is that in hospitality you need to keep checks open, and have the ability to add a gratuity at the end. Apart from RMS even being able to handle this you also need to get the merchant setup as an F type business rather than an R type or their CC processing won't accommodate it (even if RMS could, which it can't). Also, in hospitality you need to handle modifier items...so you have a base price for, say a hamburger but you need to add cheese (with it's commensurate extra charge perhaps) or remove items (say no tomatoes)...there really is no way to get that to print on a receipt so getting the accurate print out is basically impossible. Also, and this varies from one site to another but its common to have a bar printer print out bar items at the bar, kitchen items at the kitchen, and maybe other items elsewhere (say coffee or dessert items elsewhere). There is no way to do this variable printing in RMS...just my 2 cents...hope it helps! Regards, Todd NitroSell
