I have a friend who is interested in RMS, since he has seen mine. He asked me what the future on it is, and what MS plans on doing with the product as he is considering other POS Software, and would like to know how the support etc will be in comming years. He does not want to invest the money, and then MS stop developing the software. I told him that I would ask this great message board.

I don't see any reason to think they will stop developing RMS. However they don't tell us very much as to when there will be a new version.
Like most software companies, they do not let that sort of information out. Reason being if they did everyone would buy the Maintenance and they would lose money. (Although I personnally recommend everyone get on a Maintenance plan.) Or if everyone knew exactly when the next version was to be released, people would wait for the new version to come out, software sales would slow down again losing money. Just not good business sense. I STRONGLY believe if we are all patient Microsoft is not going to let us down and in fact we are going to be very pleased with the next version. When ever that may be.
