Same Old Question ~ Router/Connection???

Seems that it just happened where my connection for register#1 was lost. I hit escape, and tried the internet...no problem...then I clicked on the POS Button, and it started right up again. For whatever reason this is the second time it happened...the last time was exactly two weeks ago, same computer same time??? Very odd if you ask me, I bet this will happen again in exactly 2 weeks, same time frame...can it be the router, or what would you think it to be? I tried the silicon spray that was suggested, last time this happened...any other ideas?

Vince,

If its the same register, I would be looking at the cable from the router to the register. If it happened at the same time. look for something close to the cable that turns on or off at that time. Maybe something on a timer.

Look to see if you have a power cable close to network cable that runs along side it, instead of crossing over it at a 90 degree angle. If you must run along side of it, make sure they are at least 6 inches away from each other.

Refrigerator, neon or fluorescent lamp, air conditioner, gas pump, air compressor, etc.

Also, I said to buy electrical _cleaner_, not silicon, spray. Which did you buy?

Quotes should be there tonite.

I am using Cable internet...and I don't loose the internet connection, just the POS goes down? There are 4 other computers connected, only Reg#1 seems to be messing up...at exactly the same time every 2 weeks...go figure? Jeff, I bought the right spray, just couldn't re-call it at the time...I just checked...oops!

My two cents worth - We had used Quicksell for almost six years, just switched to RMS 30 days ago. We always had problems with our POS system locking up (pretty much daily, sometimes a couple days in between lock ups). I tried almost everything - new computers, clean installs of Windows XP, new routers, new modems - sometimes it would be better for a while, but it still locked up and we often lost our DSL connection. I was really hoping that upgrading to RMS would eliminate the problem. It didn't. After all of that hassle and expense, I finally switched over to a new USB thermal printer instead of the Parallel thermal printer (both Epson TM88III). Since the day I changed to the USB printer, almost three weeks ago, the system hasn't locked up once (knock on wood). I'm not sure why, but this seems to have solved the problem. Kris

I would assume that you static IP'd every station and reviewed the router configuration from previous posts?

What error or message is displayed when the connection is lost?

Do you do something else in particular at this time like a certain POS procedure or a certain manager procedure??

Have you checked your event log on both machines??
