Serialized/Matrix items

Strange question- I am working with a local bicycle shop and they have a dealbreaker. They need the Microsoft software to provide serialzed/matrix (combined) items. It seems to me that we can choose one or the other. What is the real answer? Thanks...Andrea

1) Create the matrix using the New Item Wizard 2) when the wizard is complete, select "Edit the Item" 3) Click Attributes to get to the properties of the child items 4) Change the Item Type of each child item from "Standard" to "Serialized"
