WebPage to create Items

I sick and tired of using the 2.0 version of item matrix in Headquarters and it's bugs, so I created my item add/matrix screen that works over the web. Wow it's so much easier and I don't have to use remote desktop anymore to get to the server.

This took me 2 day to create, why can't Microsoft do this?

Yes it is into headquarters. I used asp.net to create 2 web pages. One is for standard items, it creates the item and at the same time automatically creates a download worksheet (style 260). I hated the extra step of doing a download to the stores so I automated it.

If the item to be created is a matrix item, the basic information (description, vendor, cost retail...) is still keyed in the standard item screen. When you click on a matrix button you are taken to the matrix page that allows you to create your matrix and if necessary modify any of the basic information by line item. Again all of these items are automatically downloaded via a programmatically created worksheet (style 260). One of the big problems with Microsoft's matrix screen is you can key all of the information, but it didn't all seem to be carried through on the creation.

One last thing, if we received an item that did not have a manufacture sku on it, I hated trying to guess an item number to use, so now my web page automatically get the next item number available and populates it in the itemlookupcode field.

I can now create items from any of the stores using the internet, from my office using internet access or basically any computer that has we access.

This has been the best enhancement to the POS system I have had since the day I purchased it 5 years ago and I had to create this enhancement myself.

Let me know if you all are interested in it. Thanks, Mark Colbert
