Up to 1200Mb

My question is now that I am upto 1200Mb in 1.5 years, and I hear that the current database can only go upto 2000Mb is now the time to start taking suggestions on what to do when I get a little closer to my max. Also the POS system runs a little slower than it use to, I guess that's too be expected though. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

be patient. The new version of MSDE (SQL Express 2005) should be out next month. 4 gig limit.

FREE (like msde)

Usually SQL server versions are backwards compatible with few exceptions.

I have been using the CTP version on a demo machine off and on for 2 months with no problems. I'm sure they will announce compatibility and leave it up to the end user.

Do we know if RMS will support SQL 2005 when it is released? Or will they make us wait for an RMS upgrade?

Is this the updated version of RMS, or just an update to the database, and has nothing to do with the new version of RMS? Also would you happen to know if the new version of RMS is going to be like MS POS, as everyone keeps raving about?

I am just speaking of the database sever. It has nothing to do with the actual RMS product.

Retail Realm has an Archiving Utility for store and HQ. This allows you to transfer the old data no longer required to another database [still available to RMS when yo change the database connection with all reports and journals]. This also then compresses and shrinks the original database. We recommend this to our customers as archiving makes the working database faster and more agile [whether you have full sql or msde]. For more information contact me.

SQL 2005 will run RMS no trouble. There are a few 'modes" that you can run teh database in. It will default as SQL2000 mode.

There is also a 2005 mode (bit like native in AD).

You will NOT I repeat NOT get any support from MS if anything goes wrong with the Database if you switch to SQL 2005 Express.
