I need to learn the saved file compatibility between the 2004 and 2005 basic and pro (4 combinations).
E.g. Is it possible to save a file using 2004 pro and use 2005 basic to open it?
Could someone point me to the right place, I looked on intuit web site for a while but could not find the info I need.
Basically, any newer version of QB can open older versions. However during this there is a conversion to the newer version of the datafile. This means that you cannot use this same file again on the older version. On top of this, you can not go straight from the very old versions (say mid -1990's) to the later versions (mid 2000's), normally you have to update to one of the QB files in between (like QB99 or so.) If you example is correct going from 2004 to 2005 is no problem though.
