Does 5 User Edition Have "5 User" Silkscreened on Install CD?

We were sold a "5 user edition" of QB Premier 2007, which we received from the reseller today. I opened it up and nothing in the box says "5 user edition". The install CD itself also does not say "5 user edition". With prior releases, I always saw 5 user edition silkscreened onto the install CD.

Can someone clarify for me what should the internal documentation and install CD of the 5 user edition say on them? How do I prove this is or is not a 5 user edition without opening a sealed disk and using it for an install?

Call QB? No, that would be logical.

Would it? First I would spend 30 minutes getting kicked around to different people. Then at the end would they even agree to verify a product key?

In any case, I would like to invest five minutes into seeing what other users have before I invest 30 minutes into re experiencing Intuit's unique brand of customer service. If other users of the five user edition have CDs that do NOT say "5 user" on the CD, then Allan's advice is well-taken and just attempt the install. If other users all say that their CDs have "5 user" silkscreened on them, then probably I'm just returning the software to the seller.

I was kidding about the open the puppy bit. Call the seller.

The seller insists it is a five user license, so I'm not going to get confirmation there.

So no one in this group uses a five user Quickbooks?

You are going to have to call QB with the reg number anyway so WTF are you waiting for ...

Because I want to show consideration to the seller by not breaking the seal of his software, not using one of his activations, and I want show consideration to myself by not wasting time if other users were able to confirm a difference in the look/feel of the packaging.

If you have nothing to contribute, have you thought about maybe just not saying anything? Virtually every legitimate question I see posted in this group gets met with onslaughts of smart remarks. It's not hard to understand why the traffic here is dying off compared to what it was in

2003. I get the point that you want me to spend 30 minutes to make a call to Intuit. Thanks for the suggestion.

That call shouldn't take longer than about 90 seconds. (Oh, all right, +2 minutes to navigate the voice mail and listen to the if you have Vista message. I had to call them Wednesday.) That is if you call the product activation number or the main sales line. They have the database. They also are very interested in people who sell their products that are not kosher. Or is that the real reason you don't want to call QB. You know it is pirate! You asked about the silkscreen on the disc, so I know you have the box and disc seal broken. Isn't the registration number readable? You don't have to register it to check the number. Duh! If it checks out you are going to register it aren't you?

Oh and if you don't like that, why don't you just look up the UPC number? There are different bar code numbers for the different versions. Call their sales line and ask to verify the UPC number ... Sales answers their phone ... Heck there may even be a part number on the outside of the box you can check on the web site! Have you thought of that? Did you look at the box pictures on the web site? Have you engaged your brain? (That's why I'm pissed at you. It isn't my job to do your job! People like you end up on the Darwin awards list.)

Or, do you have one of those open box returns that Fry's likes to sell. Worried that the person who returned it bought a 5 user and a single user and put the single user in the five user box and returned that. Not a bad scam actually. And why I won't shop at Fry's.

As for that disc, you are aware at least in the US there is no difference in the ROM data between the single user and the 5 user versions. It actually doesn't matter which disc you have. The only difference is the registration number! The registration number selects the version to install. You see to be sure *THE ONLY* way for you to know is to call QB!

Now stop wasting your time. It sure the hell has been longer than your 30 minutes and you still don't have your answer. And it's the weekend so you'll have to wait until Monday.

Its from reading too many posts by Allan Martin and Tim May.

Anyway I told him the truth. It is the registration number that makes the difference.
