Payroll # of Employees Limit

Hi Folks,

Quickbooks Premier in Canada suggests 100 person limit for # of employees on payroll system.

Anyone have experience with > 100?

Would a move to QB Enterprise be more efficient?

I have client with ~250-300, mostly partime staff processing with Simply Accounting Enterprise that is consdering switching.

The scheduled payroll by location (class) is the attracting feature in QB.

Thanks for any help,

payroll system.

Accounting Enterprise that is consdering switching.

I would call them and ask them why the limit of employees. Is that just part of their guidelines of which version (premier vs enterprise) is best suited for larger companies?

The payroll program is the same for Premier & enterprise (or at least it is here in the US). It says "easily handles 100 employees...or just 1". The bigger question to ask them is whether the CA version of payroll can handle more than 100 employees.

There are numerous reasons to look at Enterprise. Multiple locations is one of them. Take a look here:

I did call Canadian tech support. They said the web information is out of date and there is no suggested limit of 100 employees for QB 2011. The size of the file is the more of an issue and they suggested one >300 MB would be subject to decreasing levels of performance.

Thanks for your input,
