QB2006 Pro for Canada?

Jan 02, 2006 4 Replies

Does the latest QB2006 Pro for Canada support any of the following now:

- Manual payroll calculations via the payroll screen or does it still require you to subscribe to get this feature? If so does it come with a free year of payroll out of the box?

- Does it now handle Quickmethod HST?

Trying to decide on upgrading, sticking with 2005, or dropping it totally. Not wanting to get sucked into their monthly subscription scam again just to do payroll.

No change in payroll. No change in GST/HST.

You really don't need software to "handle" Quick Method GST/HST. Take Total Income from a P&L and apply the appropriate rate for your business.

still

Yes I know how to do Quickmethod HST. The issue is the way QB tracks it and you have to end up balancing the accounts after doing the Quickmethod calcs.

Sounds like I'll not go with 2006 then.

Agreed, sounds like there's no reason for you to upgrade.

I still don't understand your issue with HST. (1) You don't really need to track it if you're using the Quick method (although I do for my clients). If you don't track it, there's no need for balancing. (2) If you do track it, the balancing/adjusting takes about 2 minutes. I don't consider that a major issue.

tracks it and

Quickmethod calcs.

The issue is it doesn't handle quick method HST. I shouldn't have to do it manually at all. If it handled it I could just generate the quarterly remittance with no manual calculations.

I track it so that I know what the actual HST is on purchases otherwise the total expense categories are messed up since they have HST rolled into the purchase price of items, as some get charged back to clients, some are capital purchases.
