Tax ID Format Changes to SSN Format

I am trying to change a tax ID for a vendor to show as and XX-XXXXXXX format as opposed to a SSN format. I don't know if I originally typed the ID# in as a SSN format or with no " - ", but now the program will not let me change the format no matter what I do. If I put in any other number (even one digit difference) it will let me do the other format. HELP!

Sounds like one of those wonky things that happen in software. Try this. Change the number to any other value, with the desired format (try 99-99999) and then closing the file. Hopefully, when you reopen, the new number will be seen as the one where the format cannot be changed, and the same mechanism that allowed you to change the number initially will allow you to revert back to the old value, with the new format.

Thanks for the idea. I hadn't tried that yet, but alas, when I did as you suggested, the darn program returned it to the SSN format!
