Always saves file

W7, Q12D, for the past 2 months my Web connect will always save the file. Under WEb Connect Preference I have the box checked "give me the option to save file...". The option "Save the transaction in a file for later processing..." is not checked. Any help appreciated.

You checked out the setting in your browser for the file type?

Thanks for this post! I have always downloaded the OFX file from my bank and then imported the transactions into Quicken using the File|File Import menu option.

I also use Firefox (version 13.0.1); my OS is Win 7 64-bit. The Firefox setting for OFX files is "Save File". The only other default option is to use Quicken Installer - not a good choice.

"Give me the option of saving to a file . . ." in my Quicken 2011 Deluxe WebConnect preferences is NOT checked.

Whenever I selected Quicken download from my bank's website, Firefox would ask whether I wanted to Open or Save the file. I always chose Save and proceeded to import as in the first paragraph above. Then I would go back to my downloads folder and delete the OFX file.

Just a few minutes ago I tried selecting "Open" and - Great Caesar's Ghost - the transactions just imported directly into the correct account. There were also, of course, no OFX files lying around to delete. Nice . . .

Your post raised a question I had not even thought about!

Steve

Perhaps you were seeing Quicken Launcher, not Installer. This works pretty good. i.e. If by chance you do not have Q open and download an update from your bank?? It will auto open Q for you, import and close Q afterwards.

You are quite correct - it WAS opening Quicken Launcher. Since I already had Quicken open at the time, it acted like it wanted to INSTALL Quicken

- hence my c> Perhaps you were seeing Quicken Launcher, not Installer. This works
