Bank of America Web Connection Blocked

Using QD2011 on Windows Vista

After years of trouble free connection to my checking and VISA accounts at BAC/Wa-Id using "one-step update", all of a sudden my connection is "blocked" and a CC-555 error message is displayed along with a note stating that my "financial institution is blocking Quicken from connecting to your accounts. Unfortunately, we are unable to resolve this issue until your financial institution removes the block from its servers."

I've tried uninstalling the connection and reinstalling it without any success. I called BAC's on-line banking support and they weren't aware of any problems and/or blocking on their end and the tech seemed to think my name/password were OK. He suggested I call Quicken. I haven't done that yet.

My question is has anyone else run into this problem within the last week or so and found a solution?

Regards

Pearl2006: did you enable "text banking" in your account with BAC? I had enabled text banking and noticed in a comment on Quicken.com that that might be a cause of blocking. I disabled text banking yesterday in my account at BAC. So far that hasn't corrected my problem. It may take some time.

------------------------------------- I, too, am having a problem with Quicken connecting to BoA. It worked fine up until a few days ago when I changed my password. I disabled the online banking and then attempted to re-enable. In so doing, I found that the choice "Bank of America - all other states" is no longer available. I suspect that as a result, Quicken is attempting to connect to a server that doesn't have my account on it. I have not yet contacted Intuit simply because that's like trying to push a noodle uphill but I guess I will now that others are having a similar problem.

Strange! I just tried it and it updated both of my accounts (credit card and checking) just fine. I am in the Midwest and connect using all other states. Hopefully, it was just a glitch...

Update on 3/8/2011:

I talked to the BOA phone assistant for on-line banking. She advised me of two points:

First, my broken connection is most likely due to a major change in BOA banking software that is effecting all software interfaces (Intuit stuff as well as others). They have a "red alert" (her term) that flashes on their screens for this error condition. She said that this is not just a "WA/ID" problem.

Second, she could not give me a date when this would be fixed. She had vague references to anywhere from "today" to "end of the year." She did agree that they had put in a major change about a week ago. That would coincide with when my Quicken began not connecting with my BAC account.

My conclusion at this time is that I must wait until they fix the problem. Meanwhile I can still log into my on-line accounts from my browser and use the web connect files to download transactions.

Established a connection and successfully performed direct-connect download of my credit card transactions this evening whereas it didn't work for the last several days. Evidently, BA has corrected the problem.

I would agree ... at least for the BofA region where you bank.

My personal experience, and my readings from others, suggest that it is mostly (or totally) a WA/ID problem.

I have never had a problem "Direct Connect" downloading from BofA-All Other States to Q2011 RPM R5 U.S. or Q2008 Premier R9 U.S.

I also know of at least one BofA-California Quicken user who has no problem downloading.

Update on 3/10/2011:

My bank connection finally went through this afternoon when I tried it. Seems that BAC has fixed their problem as others are finding, too.

I do notice that now there are two types of connections: my checking account seems to connect to BAC without going through the Wa/Id software port whereas my credit card still is relying on the old Wa/Id port and procedures. Interesting. I guess they've updated/integrated about half of their accounts and software. They are making progress!
