Capital first letter Problem.

When I enter checks and type the first letter it may not be capitalized and with auto complete and all the memorize options on - I frequently somehow end up with a first letter that is NOT capitalized that then becomes part of the entry AND gets memorized ALSO.

I can think of NO case where the first letter in the payee field or category field should not be capitalized - it improves readability. There was even a box somewhere that I checked to that effect - if I'm not mistaken (again).

To get around this minor irritation one can set the cap lock or type a cap first letter. Since I often enter memos I prefer to use a shift key but not to search or do auto entry. Is there a better way?

Am I missing a setting in some place? (In Q)

You may want to search this group as this comes up a lot. Bottom line is that you are probably hitting a lower case letter and then going with what shows up in the drop-down box by clicking on the next field. The Intuits, however, are a case-sensitive people and expect you to use the keyboard, e.g. tab, to go to the next field.

One problem I have is trying to type a '-' when the suggestion box is live; it automatically enters the suggestion.

ALL items on that page 'Quickfill' are checked and on. Perhaps there is a conflict among items - either on this page or other pages. Just checked again. joe

e.e. cummings, who used to write watersmooth poetry, is dead. So it's unlikely you'd be writing a check to him. k.d. lang, maybe?
