Chase changes

FYI for those customers of JP Morgan Chase who are trying to update their Quicken installation before the deadlines of Nov 30 (for business accounts) and January 30 (for personal accounts)

There are a couple of major bugs and ommissions in the Do-it-yourself instructions which Chase has posted at the Chase.com web site.

There is no 'drop down' box for the name of your financial institution in Quicken 2005. You must delete 'JP Morgan Chase from that box and then type in the two letters 'Ch' Then you WILL see the drop down list from which you can select 'Chase'

Once you have re-set the accounts for online update from within Quicken you must change the Quicken password to the same as your Chase.com password

YOU NO LONGER USE A SEPARATE PASSWORD IN QUICKEN

Chase customer service told me this morning that more than half the calls they are fielding deal with these two issues and that they have been waiting for almost a month for the Chase IT guys to change the instructions posted on the web site.

Did not get any info about "update their Quicken installation". Can you expand on that?

Hi Stan,

If you haven't heard from JP Morgan Chase by both letter and phone then it's likely that you're not involved in the changeover from JP Morgan Chase to simply Chase.

It affects (some) customers using either Quicken or Money to do online banking and bill paying with them and is associated with a major systems change following the BankOne merger.

Best to call the Chase customer support folks (877-554-7741) and double check whether you need to do anything.

If the answer is 'yes' then you have the option of having them walk you through the changes over the phone or going to the website and following the downloadable instructions.

I'd opt for having them walk you through it since there are a couple of (critical) bugs and omissions in the downloadable instructions.
