Memorized Transactions only bring down payee, not filling category or amount

As the above linked discussion demonstrates, those who post Quicken questions should be aware: Once another user has commented on the question, saying that they have the same version/release as the person having the problem, but they are NOT experiencing the problem; one should assume that more information is needed to diagnose (and possibly correct) the problem.

Instead, in the above discussion, the original poster has not returned with any additional information, and a new poster has wasted everyone's time by basically saying nothing more than "me too".

I'm not certain what the problem is, but I know one circumstance that can cause what is being reported.

When the Quicken Data Entry and QuickFill Preference to "Recall memorized payees ...." is OFF (while the "Complete fields using previous entries" Preference is ON), the result will be exactly the problem described by the original poster (even when there is a memorized payee with a category and amount).

Anyone experiencing the problem in the above linked discussions should be looking at their Preferences before assuming there is a Quicken problem.

[Note 1: Applying Quicken patches has been known on occasion to alter Preferences. When experiencing a problem that seems to have appeared only after a patch has been applied, any Preferences related to the problem should be checked.] [Note 2: "Recall memorized payees" is a global preference; if it's turned off in one Quicken file, it will be turned off in all Quicken files (on the same PC).]
