Help - Downloaded Schwab transactions cannot be deleted

This problem is experienced on Quicken for Mac 2005/R3 but it may be a general on related to Charles Schwab transactions that are downloaded during the period of April-May 2005 (a techie told me they downloaded improperly formatted data causing corruptions).

Description of problem: Certain old downloaded transactions that were accepted and/or deleted continue to display, not matter what. If I delete them they reappear the next time I return to that download transaction account window. I tried disabling the download feature for all of these problematic accounts, downloaded transactions for the remaining ones, and re-enabled "Using Direct Connect" on the Schwab accounts in hopes of a clean slate, but the old entries (from Apr/May'05) reappear before I actually download transactions from the web. Upgrading to R3 did not help and I was told that the new Quicken 2006 would probably not solve it either. I am hopeful that R3 fixes some funky things I experienced with downloaded transactions, but this one remains so it worries me to have this lingering corruption/time-bomb.

Questions: Is there a way clear the cache/file/resource of downloaded transactions so I can start clean? If so, where is it on the Mac version? There appears to be only one huge finance file, so must I use some MacOS-X resource-editor tool to remove such a thing? Or is there an actual file I can trash sitting in some preferences folder (couldn't find anything)? Is there a way to rebuild balances on selected portfolio accounts (as an experiment to see that things don't get all messed up) that might also effect downloaded transactions for those accounts?

Please help me out or give me some ideas. Thanks in advance.

I can't tell from your description if you have tried accepting all the downloaded transactions into your register, then deleting them from your account (as opposed to deleting them from the Accept transactions into register window). If you have not, why not? (If you are concerned about some (additional?) corruption, try it in a "copy" of your file first).

It might be simpler in the Windows version where I believe much of the pertinent data relating to downloads is kept in a separate file; and I know nothing about the Mac, so it will have to be someone else who can tell you if there is some specific tool you can use. If you use "direct connect", I do not believe there is any separate file of your downloaded data.

If no better options are offered, you can try exporting to QIF files and importing them to a brand new Quicken data file. There are often some problems doing this, but they can usually be overcome with time and patience. Check MSN Quicken Users Group for a faq on merging Quicken data files (ignore the fact that you do not need to "merge"; the faq has good dope on QIF files, though there may be a few Windows only concerns, I can't be sure).

If you do elect to start a new file, you should make sure that Schwab will not re-download those old bad transactions again before you initiate any download with them.

Also, Intuit offers a service to recover data, you might want to consider taking advantage of that if nothing else seems to work.
