How save long split list for re-use?

Every year I need to pay taxes on a number of properties, and I would like to simply copy or somehow re-use the list from last year. I have one check from last year that has the material, but I can't find a way to bring it up. I would only have to alter the numbers. Another such check does come up with another list and I alter its numbers. Thanks in advance.

Hi, John.

You didn't say which version of Quicken you are using, but for as many years as I can recall, the procedure has been basically the same. I'm using Q2009 Deluxe; it should work the same in whatever you're using.

For a one-time situation, just highlight that check from last year, right-click on it, and click Memorize Payee. (Or just press Ctrl+M.) Yes, I think it should say Memorize Transaction, which is what it really does, including the Split.

You might (or might not) want to go to Edit | Preferences | Quicken Program and change a few of those settings. I can't recall what the defaults were, but in Register | QuickFill, I have all the boxes checked, including Recall memorized payees...

This might sound stupid, but it's worth a shot; why don't you simply highlight the check that you do have, EDIT and do a COPY TRANSACTION and then simply PASTE it to create a new transaction and edit the date and the other numbers that might need changing. You did say another check 'does come up' so perhaps you have this method available to you as well?

Thanks, RC, RtClick "Memorize Payee" worked fine. And thanks to you all. John

btw, you do realize (I believe) that if you don't reuse a memorized transaction in a certain time frame, it will be automatically deleted, right? So if in your case you only use this once a year , you might consider editing the options of 'Quicken Program' and ensuring the timeframe is more than 12 months. There's an option to control that where you specify the time frame.
