Mastercard - download 27, but then disappear

I started working with my BILLS section using Q2009, and also added a new account for tracking my Mastercard. As I mentioned in another thread, just really wanted to post-track the spending cats/amounts, and not the realtime balance etc.

So - after downloading last month, I deleted all the recent transactions after billing, so the account would be zero balanced against the pending payment. Payment came thru, and used the [MC ] to x-post to account from checking.

Well - this month - I just downloaded 27 transactions, and they will not post to the MC account in Quicken.

I'm wondering if Quicken keeps & hides some high water transaction, and will not post any "new" transactions unless past that date ?

I tried grabbing the transactions from 1/19/2011 thru 2/17/2011 - and they all downloaded into the QFX file (even saved it to look at it) but they disappear within Quicken....

BTW - the first time I tried, I got 2 transactions from 2/17/2011 to post. But then, deleted those and tried again - all 27 downloaded -

BUT even the 2/17 transactions would not post.... ala some high water date ?

Loading thread data ...

just tried it again for grins.... Quicken 2009 dlx - R7 -

gave Chase Mastercard download dates - 1/17/2011 thru today 2/23/2011 this time, received 31 transactions, but again - only 4 "new" were posted... and those were the 4 since the last download date... of 2/17 -

so - it seems it does use the last download date ?? how can you reset or re-download activity transactions ?

from the account screen display - last transaction 2/9 last reconcile - 2/17 last transaction download - 2/23

just for grins & another test - tried to download all avail transactions.

Chase created and Quicken downloaded the file -

146 transactions - 8/23 thru 2/23

and NONE came up as avail for posting, since the last account download was listed as 2/23....

What??

Are you planning to reconcile online, or vs. your paper statement when it comes (I ask since you indicate you don't care about realtime balance, but that's actually quite simple to do and doesn't 'lag' a paper statement balance).

At any rate, why do you say you "I deleted all the recent transactions after billing,"? Once a DL transaction gets accepted into you MC account, you should never delete it. There's a column where you clear it either by doing the online reconciliation, or when you get your paper statement you'll be provided a list of transactions that you indicate you've already placed (via the DL) in your MC account. A column labeled 'CLR" will contain either nothing (meaning it's not been reconciled or cleared), an 'C' (indicating it's been cleared), or an 'R' (indicating it's been reconciled). Q will put those into the column automatically and adjust the balances as you reconcile, again either by the paper statement or the download. But once the transaction is in the account, it never gets deleted.

I think it's difficult (at least for me) to explain how to do this in a Usenet. I would suggest you go spring for a book on Quicken with pictures and see what I am trying to explain. At any rate, if you downloaded transactions and then DELETE them from your Quicken file, you don't understand what is going on.

I surrender....

It appears that Q retains the "last downloaded" date for each of the accounts as can be viewed in the Account Status screen, but - to protect us from ourselves - there is no way to edit/change that date.

As a different test, tried to re-download some checking account transactions, and again, those would not post prior to the last downloaded date.

SO - even though I would like control..... I will forego my usual zero balance accounting style, and manually enter this lost month of transactions, with letting Q take the helm for how to download....
