Merging multiple investment accounts (not files)

I have 15 years of detailed investment data in 5 different investment accounts. I have transferred all holdings to one brokerage. I need to merge 4 of the accounts into one existing account. Is QIF the only way? It seems to work since I have 2004. Understand it wont in 2005. Is that true.

Moving transactions one at a time would take forever. Read somewhere you can move "all" transactions in an account in 2005. True thanks much Frank

You can't move all transactions in an investment account, only in cash flow accounts.

Is this cash flow limit also on 2004 Quicken?? thanks Frank

Have you considered moving securities instead of transactions? You should only need to transfer your current security holdings; Quicken is supposed to keep the cost basis staright.

The ability to "move" transactions in Q2005 is implemented by using cut/paste, which is a useful tool for the purpose because Q2005 is the first Quicken version to permit selecting/cutting/copying/pasting multiple transactions at once ... but only in non-investment accounts. Since Q2004 can not select multiple transactions in any account type, the question is moot.

I agree with Mike Blake-Knox; use Shares Transferred Between Accounts. Not only do you not need all the transactions to be transferred, but if you do transfer them, your historical reports will be incorrect: transactions that actually occurred at Brokerage A will appear to have occurred at Brokerage B; net worth held at Brokerage A in the past will appear to have been held at Brokerage B. (On the other hand, some people actually seem to like this, or at least not to mind it).

True. But keep in mind that the Shares Transferred Between Accounts transaction forever screws up the Investment Performance report (unless that bug has been fixed in Q2006).
